it's that time again...

everyone has a favorite book...mine, as most of you know, is irving stones' "the agony and the ecstasy"...for the last five years, i have made it an annual event to engage in the lengthy story of the life of michelangelo...stone portrays such vivid things with his articulate vocabulary and i am not even 30 pages in and i wanted to present the world with a chance to swim in this thought:

"the most perfect guide is nature...continue without fail to draw something every day"

the passion with which michelangelo lives his life- from an early age on to his later years- is something that resonates within me...if what stone writes is even remotely close to the truth, for some time now, michelangelo has been my idol...

if i were oprah, i would first comment on the sage's beautiful legs- as would michelangelo- and then add it to the summer reading list...it's a keeper for sure...

I read the Grapes of Wrath every summer...not real sure why...but Tom Joad's legs are not as sexy as the Sage's.

The Grant Pappan Book Club pick of the month. (this club is much better than oprah, the reason, i read good books, and well while a sometimes large black woman is wonderful, i am rather consistant with my weight, and am closer to the mind set of the working classes, as i have never been featured on a list proclaiming that i have a rather disturbng amount of money.)

first i will recommend a movie, in the spirit of strong and indepentent women around the world i give you "Lipstick & Dynamite, Piss & Vinegar: The First Ladies of Wrestling" a documentary on the rough and tumble world of the elegant ladies of the squared circle.

second some thing to listen to this summer, the newest peaches album "Impeach My Bush" to continue the theme of a woman who takes no shit.

now the book, "Margaret Bourke-White : Photographer" by Sean Callahan, yet another strong woman who refused to fit into "her place", and a damn fine photgrapher.

any comments feel free to direct them to astrocero@hotmail.com, and happy reading, listening, and viewing!

The BCDees Book Club (c) recommends:

The Silmarillion by J.R.R. Tolkien

A Problem from Hell: America and the Age of Genocide by Samantha Power

Domesticating Transcendence by William Placher

Stranger than Fiction by Chuck Palahniuk

The Gift by Hafiz

The BCDees Book Club (c) also affirms that (1) Joseph's legs are indeed beautiful and (2) Oprah is a ho.
