jeez...
i watched the film The Constant Gardner last night...i really love focus films and it sent me into a tailspin of thoughts...
i cannot decide if the detriments of a capitalistic society are worth the successes...when human life becomes what is at stake, it seems that somewhere, honor- truth- integrity would rise and defeat the antithesis factors...it seems that loving your neighbor as yourself disappears when you don't even love yourself as much as you love power and money...how could you possibly love another human? money has no feeling...power has no sense of mutuality...
it's amazing that these intangible things force us to behave in some system that keeps harming human life...and the kicker is: humans implemented the system...we are responsible...

I loved this film!!! I was in Kenya when they filmed it. How can one serve two masters? Mon, when we seek to be successful absent of the foundational love of Christ we can lose sight of the humane reality that surrounds our fragile finite self. We justifey our life style with the idea od service. I ask are we truly ready to sacrifice and involved all of our brothers and sisters in the conversation? I do not for see any time in the near future a place where "we" are willing to reduce our consumption and limit the amount of impact we inflict upon this world. This is not a matter of political alligence, religious tolerance, moral selfrigheousness, nor is it an issue of ones hearts desire...i offer that until we embrace the love of God embude in the very essence of relationship in Christ we will continue to miss the mark. I pray one day we will radicaly live out the calling of creation in a wolrd inhabited with the "New Being"...
That movie really moved me. I saw it early on last semester. The scary thing was that I could really see something like that happening. And I could really see some people justifying such a scenerio. "Those people are going to die anyway. Just think how many lives we could save!"
Frightening.
